Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE) was recently awarded the Asia Award for the Best Educational Institution in Engineering by the World Education Congress for the year 2011 as part of a seriesof international awards of excellence made in education and leadership. The award was received by Dr Ahmed bin Hussain Al Balushi, Acting Dean, in a ceremony in Dubai on 25thSeptember 2011. The event was attended by international leaders and selected academic institutions from over 17 Asian countries including GCC countries, Singapore, Pakistan, Malaysia, India, Philippines, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
Now in its 15th year of operation CCE is a leading educational institution in private higher education providing high quality technological education for the Sultanate of Oman and the region in general and has produced more than 1000 engineers with diplomas and over 1700 graduates since its inception in 1996. CCE has affiliations with Glasgow Caledonian University in the UK and collaboration with Vellore Institute of Technology University in India, and offers Bachelor and Master programmes in Engineering. With over 2,700 students and 280 academic, support and admin staff from around the globe, CCE is today one of the most prestigious private academic institutions in the Sultanate of Oman.
This prestigious award is presented to individuals and institutions that have surpassed several levels of excellence, set an example as a role model and demonstrated exemplary leadership.The World Education Congress is a non-profit organisation run by a team of higher education professionals whichrecommends individuals and institutions for award to a jury composed of professionals selected from all over the world. The selection is made through a survey carried out to find out the level of current students, positions held by graduates as well as media presence and brand image.
Receiving the award on behalf of the College, Dr Ahmed commented that this was a proud moment for the College .The international recognition gave “added momentum to strive towards continuing excellence in this new academic year”.
