NU TEAM KHANJAR Outshines at SHELL ECO-MARATHON ASIA - KUALA LUMPUR.

TEAM KHANJAR of the National University form has participate successfully in Shell Eco marathon Asia from 28th of April 2019 until 3rd of May 2019 in Sepang International Circuit Race track, Kualalumpur, Malaysia. The team worked more than 10 months to develop an ultra-efficiency unique gasoline car. The team is consist of seven boys and three girls. They have worked for months to develop the unique car that promises to consume less energy and have more efficiency. In 2018, the team took part in competitions in India and they have learn a lot form this experience from the safety and technical aspects. Therefor they was very confident to participate in shell eco-marathon Asia with another 100 teams across the Asia and Middle East. This will test to see who can go the farthest distance by using the least amount of energy.

On the first day, the team was effectively pass 7 items out of 11 items tested in technical inspection. Then the team return to improve the car after receiving the comments from the technical inspection engineers, which was available for the whole day to help and to support the participated teams in this prestige competition. At the early time of the second day, the team was successfully pass the technical inspections and the safety inspections. The technical inspection engineers certified that by making two stackers in the car, which allow the team to drive the car in the track of Sepang International Circuit Race track.

As a result, out of the competition, the team was able to drive the car on the track but unfortunately, the car did not complete the full track. The team was happy for the achievement and they are planning to participate again with full of power and the lessons learnt from this experience.

The main challenges was faced by the team was the transmission system and molding the car with carbon fiber and not with steel or aluminum as done in the last editions. They take their inspiration from the same style with which even Tesla builds its innovative and path-breaking automobiles. It was a successful experience for the team, the supervisors with the all people who were involve supporting from the college of engineering, and outside the sponsors who have provide extra efforts with financial support to the team.
