National University - College of Engineering students’ bagged second prize in the 1st IEEE Oman Congress 2019.

On 10th of March, the 1st IEEE Oman Congress 2019 held at Sultan Qaboos University hosted 5 prestigious colleges for Undergraduate Project Competition, Electronics and Programming Competition and GCC Robotics Contest.

In the Undergraduate Project Competition, there were 14 teams with exceptional and innovative ideas in the fields of computing, electrical and electronics. National University of Science and Technology won the 2nd position among the participating colleges for the project entitled “Application of Image Processing Empowered Robots in Warehouses” presented by Ahmed Khamis Al Ghadani, Rocky Das and Waleeja Mateen. The IEEE Oman section selected 6 top projects, including this project from NUST, for fully sponsored participation in the Undergraduate Project Competition of GCC SYP 2019 Al Kuwait.

There were several students participating in other competitions held during the event such as the Electronics and Programming Competition, including students from National University, College of Engineering, and after a tough competition Rocky Das and team from NUST secured 2nd position along with cash prize of 50 OMR.

The IEEE – Oman chapter presented memento and the certificates for the team member through the university. Prof Dr Ahmed Hassan Al Bulushi, Dean, College of Engineering handed over the memento and the certificate.
