College of Engineering at National University of Science and Technology hosts a training programme on the use of sophisticated analytical equipment fo

College of Engineering at National University of Science and Technology has organized an advanced training programme on the use of sophisticated analytical equipment for its students.  The one-week programme was held at the Caledonian Research and Innovation premises to provide training to over 20 students of the college.  The training was held for a week period from 27th of January - 31st of January, 2019 for a total of 20 hours of in-house training with exposure to a leading industry.  Department& Mechanical & Industrial Engineering in collaboration with CATALYSE department and  Caledonian Center For Creativity And Innovation (CCCI) hosted this training programme with the aim to improve the graduate performance in the industries as chemical and process operation maintenance engineers. This training reflects the university efforts in providing a high quality of education and makes the student exposure to industrial experience and extensive knowledge in handling analytical instruments employed in chemical & process industries. The programme provided hands-on experience in handling sophisticated instruments such as Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy,   Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, UV Spectrophotometer, Gas Chromatography and Total Organic Carbon Analyzer and upgrade the laboratory skills and expertise of our students. The further programme also involved the opportunity to interact with leading engineers at the National Pharmaceutical Industry, and demonstration of their product line with sophisticated instruments and quality assurance.

Dr. Ahmed Al Balushi, the Dean of College of Engineering opined that these kinds of an event are envisaged to enable our student to enhance their technical skills, competencies and to build confidence among the students. The participating students expressed their appreciation to the college for arranging such training exercises and also expressed their keenness to attend such a short-term training programme in future.
