Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE) was internationally recognised for leadership in education at the recent British Education and Training Technology (BETT) Awards, held in partnership with Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC). The award ceremony took place on 25-26th April 2017 in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of H H Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.  The event included a wide diversity of leaders and decision-makers from the field of education from over 35 countries including Bahrain, Egypt, France, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE and the United Kingdom.

The BETT Middle East Awards were initiated to celebrate the individuals, institutions and organisations identified as inspiring educational excellence and the announcement of winners was keenly anticipated by the region’s education sector. This year’s winners of these prestigious awards were announced during an evening ceremony at Dusit Thani on 25th April 2017.  Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE) was among the evening’s winners, taking home the ‘Leadership’ award under the category of institution.  Winning the BETT award is a mark of the performance of the college in delivering consistently high quality education in the region.

On receiving news of the BETT 2017 award for leadership, the Dean of CCE, Dr Ahmed Hassan Al Bulushi, stated that this award is “yet another well-deserved recognition of the outstanding academics and staff members at Caledonian”.

“The award is a clear recognition of CCE’s commitment to its vision, mission and strategic goals that are designed to offer excellence in HE and produce world class graduates”, added the Dean.

The BETT Middle East Leadership Summit’s theme for this year was “Igniting Excitement through Innovation in Learning.” The event encompassed thought-provoking keynote addresses, discussions and debates on a wide range of topics affecting educational transformation, including the latest trends in STEM education, educational equality and access, employability and 21st century skills.  The two-day summit gave a platform to speakers from global organisations and regional and governmental entities and was attended by several hundreds of education policy makers, leaders and experts.
