Industry and employers today demand engineers with wide-ranging skills. At Caledonian College of Engineering you have the opportunity to gain such skills which will open up a range of career opportunities. We believe that engineers should be multi-skilled, and should be equipped with good communication skills to progress in their career.
Our engineering programmes are designed to provide a combination of broad engineering education and specialist knowledge. You can study full-time, part-time or special part-time to suit your convenience. We will also help you decide which career you should follow - not simply the one you think you might be good at. We analyse your potential, broaden your horizons and establish clear goals for you to work towards.
Careers Fair & Campus Interview:
Our annual Careers Fair brings a number of employers to the College and allows the students to discuss career opportunities in a wide variety of disciplines.
It also provides an opportunity for students to explore job possibilities in the market and also enables employers to arrange campus interviews to recruit qualified students from the College.
The Careers Fair also opens the possibility of summer placements in the industry.
Pre-employment guidance will help you in the quest of finding the right kind of job and to sharpen your skills or strengthen your weak areas before taking up a job.
Our career advisers will help you to arrive at the best possible career option available.
Summer Placements / Training:
We help the student to effectively use their summer holidays by attaching them with local companies to obtain hands-on experience and to understand real-life situations. This will also enable the students to apply the classroom knowledge to real life situations.
The summer placements also help to provide practical and work based training projects in order to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
All students who wish to be placed should apply to Student Services and depending upon the availability will be placed in the various organizations in Oman.
Links with Industries
The College has set up a high level industry Interaction Group (IIG) which meets on a regular basis to discuss current course provision, particularly in relation to industrial links through placements, and in the nature of project work. A key role of the group is to discuss, comment on, and give suggestions for new courses and programmes of the College.
The annual career fairs organised by the college also provides an excellent opportunity for students and employers to meet and to know the needs of each other.
The College is committed to ensuring that all its operations and services are of high quality and standard. It has adopted the Quality Assurance System of Glasgow Caledonian University. The College emphasizes a quality approach to all aspects of its work and received the final approval of the Ministry of Higher Education in November 1998, the first private engineering college to achieve this distinction in the Sultanate of Oman.
The general structures and mechanisms by which CCE assures the quality of its programmes are through College Committees such as th Academic Council, Industrial Advisory Group, Student Staff Consultative Group, and the Academic Appeals Committee. Starting from September 2004 College is establishing an Internal Quality Audit system to ensure the proper adherence of various functions to the Quality assurance system.
